Michael Sheen, star of stage and screen, lends his support to Foster Care Fortnight

The Fostering Network is delighted that Hollywood superstar Michael Sheen has sprinkled some celebrity stardust on this year’s Foster Care FortnightTM (1-14 June).

Sheen, well known for playing Tony Blair and David Frost, as well as his roles in the Twilight movies and more recently Far From the Madding Crowd, said:

All children deserve a childhood. Foster carers give them the chance to experience this, and so much more.

Each day 55,000 unassuming families wake up, get dressed, and set about making life better for 63,000 children. They’re the everyday heroes who are changing the world for the fostered children who are living with them.

All children deserve a childhood. Foster carers give them the chance to experience this, and so much more. But this year alone we need over 8,000 more foster families so that we can make sure that every child can have loving and caring foster carers to meet each child’s unique needs.

All of society should be hugely ambitious for the 63,000 children living in foster care, so I hope this year you look into your heart and see whether you have the skills and qualities that foster carers need to change the lives of the children living in foster care.

Sheen joins a list of celebrities supporting The Fostering Network's Foster Care FortnightTM including author Jacqueline Wilson, TV presenter Gabby Logan, TV cook Lorraine Pascale and singer Gareth Gates.
