The Fostering Network is delighted to announce the appointment of Carolyn Ewart as our new Country Director for Northern Ireland. Carolyn brings almost 30 years of experience in social work, leadership and service development across Northern Ireland.
Throughout her career, she has worked directly with children, young people, families, foster carers and communities, as well as leading teams and influencing policy at a national level.
Most recently, Carolyn has been working as an independent social work consultant, supporting key projects for the Department of Health and the Northern Ireland Social Care Council. Before that, she spent 15 years as National Director of the British Association of Social Workers (BASW) Northern Ireland, where she led the organisation’s work across the country and played a key role in shaping social work policy and practice.
Carolyn’s extensive experience includes work in child protection, fostering and adoption, mental health services and senior leadership roles within health and social care services. She has a strong track record of working with government, sector partners and frontline professionals to improve outcomes for children and families.
In her new role, Carolyn will lead The Fostering Network’s work in Northern Ireland, helping to ensure foster carers receive the support, recognition and resources they need to provide stable and loving homes for children and young people.
Carolyn said: "I am thrilled to be joining The Fostering Network at such an important time for fostering in Northern Ireland. Foster carers play a vital role in the lives of children and young people, and I am passionate about ensuring they are valued, supported and heard.
"I look forward to working with foster carers, children and young people, policymakers and partners to strengthen fostering services and help create the best possible futures for children."
