HRH The Duchess of Cambridge is to present foster care experienced young people with awards at The Fostering Network’s 2015 Fostering Excellence Awards. The awards are being held in London, on Tuesday 17 November.

Hundreds of foster carers, children and young people, and people from throughout the fostering community from right across the UK are due to attend the annual celebration of fostering hosted by television star Holly Willoughby.

The Duchess will present the Fostering Achievement Award, which celebrates extraordinary achievements in the last 12 months by young people aged 16 to 24 who have been fostered, to three young people. Other awards on the night will recognise the achievements of foster carers, social workers, and of fostering friendly employers.

Kevin Williams, chief executive of The Fostering Network, said: “We’re delighted that we will have an extra special guest attending this year’s Fostering Excellence Awards. The spotlight that will be placed on these young people, who have worked so hard with the support of their foster carers to change their future, is thoroughly deserved. Sadly not every young person has a positive start in life, but The Fostering Network, foster carers and all those involved in working with fostered young people throughout the UK will continue to strive to make life better for them.”

You will be able to follow the awards on Twitter, using the hashtag #TFNAwards and see pictures and stories from the awards after the event on The Fostering Network’s website.
