Developed in collaboration with young people from the LGBTQ+ community, the session takes a youth work perspective and reflects their lived experiences, challenges and needs.
The session aims to increase participants’ understanding of the experiences of transgender young people.
Session Aims:
· Have an increased understanding of what it may mean to identify as a transgender young person
· Gain knowledge that helps to dispel common myths about being transgender and what transitioning may involve
· Gain an overview of the challenges and risks faced by transgender young people and an insight into how this might feel
· Develop a deeper understanding of gender-affirming care
· Be able to identify practical steps you can take in your professional role to best support transgender young people.
