John Lewis and Waitrose raise £6,750 for care-experienced young people

Earlier this year, John Lewis hosted two special afternoon teas to mark Foster Care Fortnight in Glasgow and Edinburgh, bringing foster carers together for a well-earned break, a chance to connect, and a moment to feel valued.

These events weren’t just social occasions; they were a show of appreciation, attended not only by foster carers but also by the First Minister and the Minister for Children, Young People and The Promise. Their presence underlined just how vital foster carers are to our communities.

Inspired by the events, John Lewis and Waitrose stores across Scotland chose The Fostering Network as a beneficiary of their Community Matters Fund. Since then, an incredible £6,750 has been raised, thanks to the generosity of customers and the commitment of local store teams.

These funds will go directly towards supporting care-experienced children and young people in Scotland, helping us to provide memorable days out and engaging activities, giving young people the chance to just be kids, have fun, and feel part of something special.

Our relationship with John Lewis continues to grow, and we are so grateful for their ongoing support. What started as an afternoon tea has turned into a lasting investment in brighter futures.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed, you’re helping to make a real difference.
