Many children and young people in foster care have been affected by substance misuse. This course is suitable for foster carers and fostering services staff and provides an introduction to alcohol and substance misuse. Participants will learn to recognise commonly used substances and understand their effects, identify signs and behaviours that may indicate misuse, and explore why young people in care may be especially vulnerable.
The course builds confidence in managing risk as part of the team around the child and supports participants to have sensitive, age appropriate conversations that promote healthy choices.
