Course Description:
This advanced training course is designed for ADMs, Panel Chairs and Senior Leaders involved in the oversight of fostering services. The two-day programme explores the critical role of quality assurance in ensuring safe, transparent, and evidence informed decision-making.
Course Aim
To strengthen the confidence, capability, and critical judgement of ADMs, Panel Chairs, and senior leaders in making safe, consistent, and evidence-based decisions. This will be achieved through enhanced understanding of quality assurance, unconscious bias, group dynamics and reflective practice.
By the end of this course, participants will:
-
Apply quality assurance principles to ensure fostering decisions are consistent, evidence based, transparent, and defensible.
-
Identify and address gaps in reporting and practice using professional curiosity to distinguish between genuine engagement and disguised compliance.
-
Use constructive challenge and manage group dynamics, recognising influences such as groupthink and confirmation bias within panels, supervision, and leadership discussions.
-
Apply structured decision making models to support reflective, analytical and accountable professional judgement.
-
Reflect together on the impact of current government fostering reforms and balance competing service pressures while strengthening collaboration between ADMs, Panel Chairs, and practitioners to maintain child centred, proportionate decision-making.
