An Introduction to PACE

This course introduces the principles of PACE and therapeutic parenting to those involved in the care and support of children in care. Participants will explore how early childhood experiences shape brain development and how trauma can influence behaviour. The course focuses on how PACE can guide trauma-informed, supportive care and offers practical strategies for applying these principles within fostering.

Aims and objectives:

  • To develop understanding of how early experiences and trauma affect brain development and behavior

  • Introduction of the PACE model and core principles

  • Develop knowledge and skills to apply PACE strategies in practice

  • Develop skills in reflecting on practice, to support maintaining a PACE-informed approach during challenging situations.
