Capstone momentum groups forge ahead

The momentum groups – set up in some of the programme sites to keep those who have undertaken the social pedagogy courses on a continuous learning journey – in Hampshire, Somerset and Bristol & Gloucestershire have been deepening their learning and have created amazing initiatives.

Examples include a social pedagogy blog in Ringwood, a video about their social pedagogy journey in Frome and the Caffeine and Calories peer support group in Bristol. In Somerset the momentum group is holding creative children’s workshops. All three teams are holding a workshop on creative supervision.

Many other activities are in preparation. In Hampshire the momentum group will provide some Head, Heart, Hands workshops so new carers can learn about social pedagogy. In Frome, wellbeing courses are co-facilitated with the momentum group to provide opportunities to explore aspects of social pedagogy for all Somerset carers. In Bristol a family fun day is envisaged for spring 2015.

The area’s active steering group is exploring the partnership between therapeutic parenting and social pedagogy. They are looking at the similarities and differences between both.
