This training course will provide participants with an overview of the new regulatory framework for Local Authority and Regulated fostering services in Wales; highlight key guidance within the accompanying Code of Practice and explore the implications of the new regulatory framework on individual and agency practice
During the training participants will:
- review the key components of the regulations and the differences between the new and old regulations
- have an opportunity to explore the practice implications of the new regulations for their own agency, fostering practitioners and foster carers
- consider the role of the regulations in supporting children’s rights and quality outcomes for children and young people in the care system.
This course is delivered by our associate trainer Mike Lewis. Mike was previously Chief Executive Officer at the Welsh Refugee Council, Director of Policy at Children in Wales and is currently a lecturer in social policy and social work at Swansea University. He is passionate about exploring both the conscious and unconscious aspects of organisational life, development and support to service users.
