The Fostering Network Wales are delivering free Fostering Changes training programmes across Wales for Independent Fostering Agencies over the next 4 years. The courses are open to all foster carers regardless of their experience and relationship to the children they look after. The next Fostering Changes Courses for foster carers in the Independent sector will be running from January – March 2017 in South Wales.
About the training
There are 12 places available on each course and these will be allocated on a first come first served basis. One of your supervising social workers will also be able to attend so that they can support carers with the application of learning. It is important that carers and staff are able to commit to attending for the full 12 weeks and that carers are expected to have a child in placement for the duration of the course. The courses run from 10am – 1pm.
Cardiff University are evaluating these courses as part of the randomised control trial which is part of the Confidence in Care Programme. This means that applicants’ names will be randomised and some carers will be allocated to a ‘control group’. This group will attend the training a year later.
To ensure that your agency does not miss out on this opportunity to access free training please contact the Learning and Development Manager to book places for your carers as soon as possible.
