Unaccompanied children seeking asylum

This course offers foster carers, teachers, and social workers an overview of the key issues facing unaccompanied children and young people seeking asylum. It covers the unique challenges these young people encounter as they navigate new environments. Through this training, participants will learn strategies to better support and advocate for them.

Aims and objectives:

  • Learn about the asylum process​

  • Explore why children and young people leave their home country​

  • Understand the implications for children and young people seeking asylum

  • Increase sensitivities towards the emotional, physical and educational needs of children and young people seeking asylum.​

  • Develop your skills in meeting the needs of unaccompanied children and young people seeking asylum.
