Men Who Foster bushcraft night

During October, The Fostering Network’s Men Who Foster invited men from various Health Trusts come together for the second instalment of ‘bushcraft with Marty from Connected Adventure’.

In a wood near Belfast, only lit by torchlight, Marty taught the men how to set up woodland shelters using tarps and various knot-tying techniques.

The activities culminated in hot-chocolate and ‘smores’ around the campfire while the men openly shared experiences of how they got into fostering and what they have learned through their fostering experience. A super night was had by all, brilliantly summed up in these quotes from attendees below.

Feedback

"The bushcraft and discussion session was really good. The combination of physical action, craic and learning helped everyone to bond a bit more and made the subsequent group discussion around the firepit a lot more open. Excellent idea. Looking forward to the next one

Feedback

I really enjoyed the night it’s not a thing I normally attend but with a bit of encouragement from the wife I went along and am so pleased I pushed myself. It was a great experience of learning new skills of knot-tying and making shelters, great night of craic and hearing from other foster carers experiences. I look forward to another adventure.

Kevin, foster carer
