This free webinar is available to members of The Fostering Network.
About this webinar:
This session focussed on how to communicate with children so they can thrive and prevent childhood verbal abuse, from the charity Words Matter. It follows the excellent pilot session ran last year.
A shocking 2 in 5 (41%) children experience verbal abuse by adults which can cause lasting damage. This is largely due to a lack of understanding of the impact our words can have on children.
The two-and a half hour training will be online and highly interactive. It will include some of the important science of why our words matter; highlight what childhood verbal abuse is and its impact; how to identify it; and provide practical tips and real-life scenarios on how to communicate with children to help them thrive.
The training will be delivered Dr Fiona Pienaar, who is an advisor to Words Matter, and Senior Clinical Advisor to MHI/Shout 85258. She was previously at Place2Be as Clinical Director and has over 20 years' experience of teaching and training in the fields of child development and mental health.
We are delighted that Words Matter’s Founder Jessica Bondy, will be joining the session to share her own story and why she founded this important charity on a mission to end verbal abuse of children by adults. The first in the world to address this critical issue.
During the session there will be a pre and post questionnaire to help with the charity’s evaluation of the programme so it can be constantly improved.
We very much hope you are available to attend. This is an excellent opportunity for us to learn more, and support Words Matter in building awareness to help prevent childhood verbal abuse by adults, and help children reach their full potential.
