What a two weeks!

There has been a tremendous response to our #changeafuture theme this Foster Care Fortnight from our members and supporters as well as decision makers around the UK and the wider public, with more than 1,000 pieces of media coverage and countless social media posts raising awarenss of the transformational power of foster care in the UK.

Every year that I have been chief executive of The Fostering Network I have been overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and support of our members, the wider fostering community and others during Foster Care Fortnight.

This year has been no exception and the uptake of our campaign across the UK has been fantastic – many of you will have seen coverage in the national and local media and we know that fostering services and foster carers, as well as many other supporters, have been sharing the message that foster care changes futures through various events, marketing materials and word of mouth. Literally millions of people have read, or watched films, about #FCF19 on social media and I believe we have, yet again, sent a resounding message about the transformational power of fostering in the lives of children and young people and the phenomenal work foster carers and social workers do.

I would personally like to echo the positive sentiments which have been aired throughout Foster Care Fortnight and offer my particular thanks to all our members who make such a positive difference to the lives of children and young people to help change their future – not just in Foster Care Fortnight, but all year round. Thank you.
