In response to the announcement by the National Assembly for Wales's Llywydd, Elin Jones AM, of her intention to establish a youth parliament, Dr Emily Warren, director of The Fostering Network Wales, said: 'We are delighted to welcome the Llywydd's announcement to establish a long-called for youth parliament for Wales. It will play a key role in implementing the recommendations from the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, and ends the fact that Wales is one of only six devolved nations without a youth parliament.

'It is essential that as a nation we are listening to the views of our children and young people, who have so much to share and such a stake in the future. It is also essential that the new body is representative of children across Wales, and includes those with care experience in its membership and its remit. The Fostering Network looks forward to working with the Assembly Commission to ensure that this becomes a reality, and that the recommendations published prior to Christmas will enable this new body to shape the future of a Wales fit for all.'
