A lot of people ask me as a foster sibling : “do you not just want your parents too yourself?” and the answer has always been the same. No.

My family I didn't like being an only child because I didn't have anyone too play with. I wanted someone to come to be my sister and Kerri is my big sister now. She is kind and caring and beautiful. I sometimes find it tricky when she gets ill or angry.

What fostering means to me Fostering is everything because I can bring children into my family and give them love, care, kindness and most of all friendship, all the things they long for. Every child turns into my new brother or sister and they get all the love from me and everyone else in my family, they are a new person to play with and to have fun with. Fostering is a brilliant experience because you get to see all different kinds of people and get into their life and live with them. Now I have been fostering for many years I have been living with kids with special needs and young babies too.

I am Thomas, and my family and I have been fostering for just over 3 years. Our family has been crazy since the two foster children moved in, along with my mother, father, younger brother and older sister. We are now a family of 7, and things have not been the same since.

Most people think fostering is a cranky old woman/man who looks after some badly behaved children, for example the inaccurate program on the CBBC channel which only shows it from the foster kids point of view.

Fostering is different. I am not a very emotional person but even I felt empathy for some of the children that we have fostered. I cannot imagine not having both my parents there and having them tell me they love me each night I go to bed.
