Most people think fostering is a cranky old woman/man who looks after some badly behaved children, for example the inaccurate program on the CBBC channel which only shows it from the foster kids point of view.

Fostering is different. I am not a very emotional person but even I felt empathy for some of the children that we have fostered. I cannot imagine not having both my parents there and having them tell me they love me each night I go to bed.

Hello, my name is Bailey. My family have been fostering for 2 ½ years now. We foster children from 0-18 years with a preference of 0-6 years. Overall we have had 5 placements, all boys, one of which was a placement of siblings. They have all come to us from a really young age, as young as 2 days old.

There are always the good times and bad times, fostering has no exceptions there will always be a tear to shed once a child has gone, may it be tears of joy from the new family or carers or tears of sorrow to have to say goodbye to a loved family member and friend as they leave to somebody else.

My foster brother came into my family in May 2012. I was at a school trip to M&Ds when he came. He was six months old when we got him.
